Predatory journals are journals that aggressively recruit scientists and try to get them to publish articles in return for a publication fee through a false professional appearance. But these journals don’t have quality controls like peer review and should therefore be avoided. You can find more information here.

There are different resources where you can test a journals reputability:

Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ): A comprehensive directory of open access journals. Only journals with quality assurance are included.

oa.finder: Here you can find out in which journals you can publish based on your institution.
