The project objective is to develop blow-in insulation based on hemp short fibres, including the demand-oriented adaptation of process and production parameters to the preparation and blower technology.

The aim of the HKF roof insulation project is to develop a practical, innovative and high-quality roof insulation based on hemp short fibres for insertion with blower machines over the entire service life.

The project objectives can be summarized as follows:

  1. Development of blow-in insulation based on hemp short fibres and provision of the computational and experimental evidence related to the structural, mechanical and acoustic properties as well as the settlement safety.
  2. Technical further development of a plant for the mechanical shortening of medium-length fibre fractions by modifying a straw chopping machine.
  3. Construction of a blower machine specially adapted to short fibres.
