Participatory Design and Joint Action Projects for Sustainable Development

Source: Wismar University of Applied Sciences

This project focuses on socio-economic and environmental aspects of sustainable development practice and explores "low-tech" solutions and alternative construction methods.

The multidisciplinary approach aims at activating potential in order to overcome complex social challenges. Participatory design and the Joint Action Projects (JAP) method establish self-initiatives and self-construction as educational methods. Project strategies enhance the current academic curricula of partner universities by incorporating fieldwork practice into selected demonstration units. Regular academic exchanges ensure the necessary training of qualified personnel who can apply the concept to ongoing efforts to bring about much-needed sustainable social change.
