In this course you will get practical knowledge to perform general machine learning and, in particular, computer vision tasks, such as telling dogs from cats and wolves on photos.
We will give the necessary theoretical background to troubleshoot when transferring the knowledge to solve own problems. The class will be hands-on and interactive.
• This course is open to all interested members of the university (students & scientific staff)
• It's an online course
• Course language is English
Covered topics include
• Stochastic Gradient Descent
• Linear Regression with TensorFlow
• Fully-Connected Neural Networks
• Convolutional Neural Networks for Images
• Convolutional Neural Networks for (Biological) Sequences
Prerequisites:
• Basic programming skills in any language
• Basic calculus (derivatives) and linear algebra (matrix multiplication)
• Some familiarity with NumPy syntax. This can be acquired with the course "Python from Zero"
(February 19th to 21st), or, at minimum, by self-studying exercise sheet 0, that takes about 2 hours.
You need an account at University of Greifswald. The course will be in English.
