Franko Wegner M. A. was selected by the Vice-Rector for Research for an internal doctoral scholarship. Since working as a research assistant on the research project Gender-specific violence in German television (GGTV) under the direction of Prof. Dr. phil. habil. Christine Linke, he is familiar with our university of applied science (UAS). He particularly appreciates the breath of fresh air at Wismar University of Applied Sciences and is in close contact with the professor who teaches at the Faculty of Architecture and Design and will supervise him during his doctoral project. Franko Wegner was able to appoint Professor Dr. phil. habil. Elizabeth Prommer from the University of Rostock. The working title of his doctoral project is: "Social relationships, gender and sexuality in unequal digital spaces. An empirical multi-method analysis of the media practices of queer people'. Using an action-theoretical understanding of communication, he examines how queer people construct identity(ies) based on experiences of inequality and how they use digital media to build relationships in this context. The project is socially connectable in the relevant fields of health communication (sexual health and self-determination) and media education (sexual socialization and media literacy).

A doctoral scholarship for solitary subjects from the State Graduate Funding Program M-V was awarded to Xie Huanhuan MArch./M. A., who successfully completed both the Bachelor's and Master's degree courses in Architecture in China and our Master's degree course in Architecture at East China Jiaotong University. At our UAS, he will be supervised by Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Martin Wollensak at the Faculty of Architecture and Design. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Henning Bombeck has taken over his supervision at the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Rostock. His doctoral project is entitled "Improving Existing Residential Buildings by Upcycling Windblades as Shadow Systems (using the example of the Taipiling Area in China)".
