She will research and teach in the subject "Process Engineering, Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment". She began her professional career at the Roßlau shipyard, where she trained as a mechanical draughtswoman, before studying mechanical engineering, specialising in environmental engineering, at the University of Rostock. She completed her doctorate at the University of Hohenheim in co-operation with Fulda University of Applied Sciences in the field of food process engineering and powder technology.
She gained extensive professional experience in industry through her many years as a project engineer in Aschaffenburg at Brochier Wasser- und Abwassertechnik and subsequently in Fulda at Mehler Engineering und Service. Most recently, the 54-year-old worked at Fulda University of Applied Sciences (UAS), Department of Food Technology, as a lecturer for special tasks, where she mainly taught practical process and environmental technology topics.

At our UAS, Professor Hülsmann would like to contribute her extensive experience in the research areas of wastewater treatment and phosphorus recovery.
Teaching will focus on process engineering, in particular water treatment and wastewater treatment, but also thermal process engineering and project and plant management. However, new focal points can also be set in the field of drying technology or packaging technology.
